Superpowered Success: Limavady Grammar School Welcomes Future Heroes at Annual Open Night

The halls of Limavady Grammar School were transformed into a hub of heroic activity this week as we hosted our much-anticipated annual Open Night. The event saw a record-breaking turnout, with over 1,000 P6 and P7 pupils and their parents joining us to get a firsthand look at life within our school community. The evening began with an inspiring address from our Principal, Mrs. Nicola Madden, who officially opened the proceedings and welcomed our visitors to what would prove to be an unforgettable experience.

This year, the school embraced a vibrant “Superhero” theme, inviting our young guests to embark on a mission throughout the departments. To complete their journey, pupils had to navigate various classrooms, engaging in interactive challenges to collect special superpower badges along the way. From scientific experiments to creative displays, the energy across the campus was electric as the visiting “heroes” explored the diverse opportunities available at LGS.

The feedback from our guests was overwhelmingly positive, with many parents and children describing the night as simply “amazing.” A common highlight for many was the immersive atmosphere found in the library, where student actors brought stories to life. The professional yet inviting atmosphere of the school left a lasting impression, with one visitor noting that the staff had put in a huge effort, making the entire experience deeply informative. The genuine rapport between our staff and pupils was on full display throughout the evening, beautifully illustrating the close-knit family atmosphere that makes our school so special.

However, the real stars of the evening were undoubtedly our students. We received a flood of praise for our tour guides, who went above and beyond to make our visitors feel at home. Amongst many other compliments for our guides, Amy was described as a credit to her parents and the school, while Jacob was singled out as an excellent tour guide for his helpful and friendly nature. Similarly, Peter and Daniel were praised for being fantastic representatives of the student body. Visitors were particularly struck by how confident and able our students are, frequently noting that the pupils themselves truly made the evening special.

As the night drew to a close, it was clear that the “superpowers” of Limavady Grammar School—our dedicated staff, creative curriculum, and exceptional students—had made a significant impact. We would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to such a great night, and we look forward to seeing many of those familiar faces joining our ranks in the future.
