This week marked the final session of our Care Home Games, bringing to a close an inspiring and meaningful programme for our A Level Sport Science students. Over the past number of weeks, students have worked closely with the residents and staff at Cornfield Care Centre, carefully planning and delivering sessions designed to increase physical activity and, more importantly, foster strong social connections.
What began as a course requirement quickly became a valuable experience for everyone involved. Students and residents built genuine relationships, shared many moments of laughter, and created memories that will last beyond the classroom. It was clear that our students were sad to say goodbye, reflecting just how special this programme has been.
The final session was made even more memorable with a visit from UTV, who will be sharing a report on the programme soon, and by welcoming Donal Gallagher from CCEA to observe the students’ work.
We extend our sincere thanks to Cornfield Care Centre for their warmth, support, and hospitality throughout this project. The Care Home Games have been an unforgettable experience, highlighting the power of connection, care, and teamwork.
