On 18th September, Limavady Grammar School gathered to celebrate Prize Day 2026, an occasion dedicated to recognising exceptional talent and honouring the impressive achievements of its pupils over the past academic year.
The event marked a special milestone as the school officially welcomed its new Principal, Mr O’Donnell, who was warmly introduced by Dr McNeill, Chairman of the Board of Governors. The school was also privileged to welcome special guest speaker Roger McCracken, who delivered an inspiring address to students, parents, and staff.
In his address, Mr O’Donnell praised the hard work, determination, and resilience demonstrated by the pupils across all year groups, with Limavady Grammar School students once again far exceeded regional averages:
At A Level, the school saw an impressive set of results. 92% of all grades awarded at A2 were awarded A*– C, which exceeded the Northern Ireland average of 87.8%. Furthermore, 67% of all grades at A2 were awarded at the A*–B level, surpassing the Northern Ireland national average of 64.8%.
At GCSE level, the outcomes continue an upward trend of achievement, building on the excellent results of recent years. 61% of students achieved an impressive seven or more A*–B grades, with an incredible 68 students securing five or more A* and A grades — the highest in recent years! Special mention goes to the 24 students who achieved straight A* and A grades, contributing to a phenomenal total of 172 A* grades achieved by Year 12 students overall.
During the ceremony, Mr O’Donnell outlined the extensive accomplishments of pupils across both academic disciplines and extracurricular programs.
