The school’s Traditional Group has gone from strength to strength this year, bringing together talented musicians from Year 8 to Year 14. Meeting weekly for practice, the group features a lively mix of instruments including guitar, bodhrán, banjo, tin whistle, flute, and violin. Their dedication and passion for traditional music have created a vibrant and inclusive musical community.
The group made their debut performance during the festive season with a Corridor Concert on Christmas Jumper Day, delighting staff and students alike. Their set ended on a high note with a spirited rendition of Fairytale of New York. The concert also featured memorable guest performances from Ethan and Scott, Emily and Marissa, and—unforgettably—Mr Lee on his ukulele!
To round off the year, the group visited the residents of Thackeray Place, sharing a joyful selection of rousing traditional pieces. The performance included standout solos from Marissa, Ryan, and Emily, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
The Traditional Group has not only showcased musical talent but also brought joy to the wider community. With such a successful year behind them, there’s great excitement about what lies ahead. The group hopes to continue building on this momentum in the future.
