Limavady Grammar School Sports Day 2025: A Resounding Success!

Limavady Grammar School’s annual Sports Day, held on June 10th, 2025, was an exceptional display of athleticism, dedication, and community spirit. The day was blessed with truly excellent weather, with glorious sunshine bathing the grounds from start to finish, setting the perfect stage for a memorable event.

The school grounds themselves were a highlight, looking absolutely magnificent and impeccably maintained. A huge debt of gratitude is owed to Dessie Loughery and his dedicated team for their tireless efforts in ensuring the facilities were in pristine condition, a testament to their hard work and commitment.

The pupils’ effort throughout the day was nothing short of fantastic. Their enthusiasm, determination, and sportsmanship were evident in every race, jump, and throw. It was inspiring to witness such commitment from all participants, showcasing the vibrant sporting talent within the school.

Equally outstanding was the participation and unwavering support from the staff. Their dedication to their various roles, from officiating events to providing encouragement, was crucial to the smooth and successful running of the day. The collaborative spirit between pupils and staff truly made the event special.

This year’s Sports Day also proved to be a record-breaking occasion. An incredible ten new school records were broken, highlighting the rising standards of athletic performance at Limavady Grammar. Furthermore, the excitement peaked with one record being equaled in the Boys’ Minor High Jump, matching the impressive achievement held by Finn O’Neill in  2019 of 1.60m.

Overall, the Limavady Grammar School Sports Day 2025 was a triumph, filled with moments of sporting excellence, camaraderie, and joy. The combination of perfect weather, superb grounds, fantastic pupil effort, and outstanding staff support made it an unforgettable day for everyone involved. We eagerly look forward to Sports Day 2026, anticipating another day of spirited competition and new achievements!
