As the 2024-2025 netball season draws to a close, I wanted to share my thoughts on what has been a truly memorable and challenging year for the team.
Looking back, it’s incredible to see how much everyone improved, both in our training sessions and during the games. Every single player put in so much effort, and it really paid off. The coaches pushed us, and we all responded by working harder, sharpening our skills, and understanding the game better.
It was definitely a tough and competitive season. Every match felt like a battle, and we faced some really strong opponents. But what stood out was how we learned from our experiences. Even after a difficult game, we’d come together, discuss what happened, and figure out how to improve for the next time. This constant learning and adaptation made us stronger as a unit.
Most importantly, we worked incredibly well as a team. There was always a great atmosphere on court, with everyone supporting each other and communicating constantly. We knew each other’s strengths and weaknesses, which helped us play cohesively.
From my perspective as a defender, I felt our defence was a real stronghold for the team. Margaret, Farrah, and I worked tirelessly in the defensive third, and I believe our defence was excellent throughout the season. We really focused on shutting down our opponents and winning back possession.
In the mid-court, Molly was an absolute powerhouse. She was always delivering excellent passes from the centre, consistently finding space and setting up our attacks. Her vision and quick thinking were vital in transitioning the ball up the court. Lily as a forward also played a crucial role, tirelessly working to create opportunities and support the attack.
Upfront, our shooters Sarah, Maya, and Sienna formed a fantastic partnership. Their communication in the circle was brilliant, making sure they were always in the best positions to receive the ball and score. Their accuracy and teamwork under pressure were key to our goal count.
Overall, it’s been an amazing season, full of growth, challenges, and incredible teamwork. I’m really proud of what we achieved and how much we all developed as players and as a team. I’m already looking forward to next season!
