Why will this work?
A nine-box grid can be an effective revision tool for several reasons, because it will help you prioritise the most important information and classify it into nine boxes. Throughout this process you are thinking which will help you process information and help it stick in your head.
How?
- Choose a topic.
- Think of the 9 key areas within that topic.
- Write out a summary of the key information for that area in each box. Make it colourful and add pictures to help things stick in your head.
- Learn the grid.
- Put your notes away and try to complete as much as possible in a blank grid.
- Check and correct your grid when you are finished using a different colour. This will allow you to see what you still need to learn.
