The Crochet Club at Limavady Grammar School, held every Monday from 3:30pm to 4:30pm, has been a wonderful space for students to tap into their creative side while making a real difference in the community. Led by the talented and passionate Mrs. Martina Bradley, the club has taken on a range of enjoyable and meaningful projects – from creating beautiful patterns to spreading kindness in unexpected ways.

One of the standout achievements of the year was the creation of 40 handmade Easter crochet baskets, each filled with Easter eggs. These baskets were lovingly gifted to the elderly residents at Thackeray Place Care Home in Limavady. The residents were deeply touched by the thoughtful gesture, and their appreciation for the gifts was incredibly heartwarming. A special thank you goes out to all the students and staff who helped crochet these baskets — your time and effort was much appreciated.

Beyond this project, the Crochet Club has also been a therapeutic outlet for many students. The soothing rhythm of crochet, combined with the focus required for each stitch, has provided a calm and relaxing escape from the busy school week. Many club members have found crochet to be a wonderful way to relieve stress, unwind, and enjoy creating something beautiful.

A huge shout-out is deserved for Mrs. Martina Bradley, our incredible crochet teacher, whose enthusiasm and skill have inspired every club member. Mrs. Bradley’s crochet journey began when she was just 11 years old, learning the craft with some of her friends at school. Since then, crochet has become a lifelong passion for her, and she continues to inspire us all with her dedication and creativity. You’ll rarely see Mrs. B without a crochet hook in her hand – at the moment, she’s working on adorable crochet ducks and octopuses for her upcoming cruise, and we can’t wait to see what she makes next!

Emily, one of our enthusiastic club members, would like to give a special thank you to Mrs. Bradley for a thoughtful and delightful surprise: an octopus crochet gift to Emily last week. It was a lovely gesture that meant a lot, and it highlights the personal touch Mrs. Bradley brings to everything she does.

The Crochet Club at Limavady Grammar School has been a space for creativity, relaxation, and community spirit. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn new skills, make lasting memories, and give back to the local community.
