Prize Day 2024 was a joyful occasion to celebrate talent and recognise the impressive achievements of our pupils. We were delighted to welcome back past pupil Professor Cecilia O’Kane as our guest of honour. Professor O’Kane is a distinguished academic at Queen’s University Belfast, working within the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences and the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine. Her research focuses on respiratory disorders, an area in which she has made significant contributions.

It was a privilege to join with our guests, families, and friends to honour the outstanding accomplishments of our pupils. In a year that continued to present challenges across the education sector, Limavady Grammar students once again rose to the occasion, demonstrating resilience, determination, and excellence.

At A Level,  in NI 30% of A level entries were awarded A*/A grades however in Limavady Grammar 40% of examinations sat resulted in the top A* or A grades and 72% of all grades awarded were A*-B grades.  The figure of 82% of pupils receiving 3 or more A*-C grades represents the best results in recent years that the school has had under normal grading.

GCSE results were equally impressive, In NI this summer at GCSE level 31% of all GCSE entries received an A or A* grade. In Limavady Grammar our students far exceeded the Northern Ireland standards with 47% of all GCSE entries awarded at A*- A grades. These results are a testament to the hard work of our students and the dedication of our staff.

During the ceremony, Mrs Madden reflected on the achievements of our pupils, both academically and through their involvement in extracurricular activities. She expressed her pride in the school community and extended heartfelt thanks to the staff and Board of Governors for their continued support and commitment.

This year, Limavady Grammar School continued to receive recognition for its pastoral care. We were proud to be awarded an Investors in Mental Health Gold award in recognition of the significant work that takes place to support our students.

Prize Day 2024 was not only a celebration of individual achievement, but also a reflection of the strong sense of community that defines Limavady Grammar School. We look forward to the future with pride and optimism, inspired by the accomplishments of our pupils and the continued support of our school family.
