The House System is designed to embody the values and ethos of the school and is an integral part of our school community.
In Limavady Grammar School, all pupils are allocated to a House in Year 8 and they remain in this House until Year 14. The Houses, named after local mountains, are:
Benbradagh (Blue); Benevenagh (Green); Loughermore (Red); Mullaghmore (Yellow)
There are four sections (Senior, Intermediate, Junior and Minor) and each has a girls’ and boys’ division. All Senior sections elect a House Captain and Vice – Captain while Games’ Captains are elected within each division for Science, Arts, Athletics and Sport.
The objective of the House System is to give every pupil, and those who take positions of responsibility, the following:
- a sense of belonging
- positive role models from within their peer group
- a sense of achievement outside the classroom
- fun and excitement through competition
- curiosity and creativity
- leadership
- the confidence to be bold and develop a spirit of adventure
- the development of communication skills
