LGS was well represented at the Swim Ulster Schools Cup & Championships in Bangor at the weekend with very strong performances from pupils across the four age categories.
In the 11-12 age group, we saw Zoe Kershaw achieve a PB in the 50m freestyle. Yna Cisnero, Alec George, Sam Cormie and Pablo McIlroy-Sánchez all made finals and qualified for the Irish Minor Schools Championships in Dublin next February. Yna topped these achievements with two silver medals in the 50m butterfly and breaststroke!
In the 13-14 age category, Jack Butcher, Max Loughery, Keziah McCracken, Emma Kershaw and Yna Cisnero dramatically reduced their personal bests in all the events they swam! Yna Cisnero narrowly missed the 100m breaststroke final.
In the 15-16 age category, Aaron Loughery achieved two massive PBs in the 100m freestyle & 100m breaststroke, while Conor McIlroy-Sánchez made the 100m breaststroke final and achieved a qualifying time for the prestigious Dave McCullagh International Meet with his performance in the 200m IM.
Finally, the 17-19 age group was represented by James Matthews, who greatly improved his 100m freestyle PB and made the final of the 100m backstroke.
Well done to all our swimmers and thank you to all the parents who supported them and helped with travel arrangements and time keeping.
