Joel O
Head Boy
My name is Joel and I have been given the role as Head Boy for the 2024/2025 school year. I am studying Maths, Further Maths, Physics and SSD. After school, I hope to go on to university or get a degree apprenticeship in an engineering course – both finally resulting in me being a full time engineer. I am a member of the First XV Rugby Team and take part in peer mentoring and 180 (Scripture Union). My highlight of my time at LGS has to be playing rugby in Year 12 for the firsts, and staying in the La Mon Hotel before our quarter finals match in the Danske Bank Subsidiary Shield. Although we didn’t win the upcoming match, this was an unforgettable experience. Outside of school, I enjoy playing guitar and meeting up with my friends.
Ruby A

My name is Ruby and I have been appointed the position of Head Girl. I am currently studying four A-Levels: Maths, Physics, Biology and Sports Science. I really enjoy Physics and Biology and in the future I would love to pursue a career within the areas of Medical Physics or Biomedical Engineering. I have played for the school hockey team since Year 9, and I have represented the 1st and 2nd XI in recent years. I was also a member of the backstage team for the school’s production of “We Will Rock You” in 2023, and I am a member of the current school council. A highlight of my time at LGS was in year 11, I played for the 2nd XI hockey team and we made it to the Ulster Hockey McDowell Plate Final where, after an extremely close game, we became runners up. Another more recent highlight was the senior ski trip to Madonna Di Campiglio, Italy which was an amazing opportunity and experience that I will never forget. Outside of school, I am really interested in gymnastics. I have been a competitive gymnast since I was 7 years old and have travelled as far as America to train and compete throughout my career!

A highlight for me was winning the U16 Bowl when I was in Y11 – this was a great experience and a privilege to be part of a strong group of players. I am currently working towards my Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and I am looking forward to our hike in the Lake District in June 2024. I am also a keen tennis player and over the years, I have competed in many province-wide tournaments. At present, I am working towards my AS exams and then A-Levels to follow. I don’t have a definite career path in mind just yet, but I aspire to go to University, hopefully in Belfast.
