A good season for the Under 13 team with some new players adding to the team from last year. The team was led well with Jacob Blair as captain and om Howe as vice-captain, showing a lot of cricket knowledge with their field placings and clever decision with their batting and bowling orders.
They started with their two toughest matches of the year against Lisneal and Strabane. Against Strabane, Jacob Blair and Kyle Lamrock took 2 wickets each in a difficult fixture. Next was a resounding win against Ballymena Academy, with Tom Howe scoring 39 not out and Amelia Guy 22 not out. In the bowling department, Charlie Stewart and Adam Hinds took 2 wickets each, and in the field Adam also had 2 run outs and Lucas Villa took a catch and also got his first stumping of the season as wicketkeeper. Sullivan was their next match, and once again Tom Howe showed his batting skills off with another 39 not out. Bowling saw Jacob and Charlie take 2 wickets each and Noah Brolly took a spectacular diving catch. Finishing the season against Foyle College, Tom and Jacob took 2 wickets apiece, which Jacob scored 28 and Lucas 27 not out.
It was great to see old players returning, along with new players coming along and playing their first cricket matches, as well as Alexander honing his skills as wicketkeeper towards the end of the season. It will be great to see them progress into Year 10 cricket and we wish them all the best.
