The 1XI cricket was captained by Robert McFarland with Seth Guy acting as the vice-captain. The squad began training just after the Easter break and were working hard in the indoor nets. The team played Ballyclare High School in the first round of the Schools’ Cup. The game was reduced to 10 overs due to persistent rain. Ballyclare went into to bat first making a score of 78/3 off their 10 overs, with Robert taking a fantastic catch on the last ball of the game. Jordan McCurry ended up with the best stats with 2 wickets for 11 runs. Captain Robert and vice-captain Seth stepped out to crease. They batted really well with an opening stand of 63. Callum Smith and Robert saw them win the game with 1 ball to spare for the loss of only 1 wicket.
In the next round the team faced the eventual Schools’ Cup winners RBAI. Limavady won the toss and chose to bowl in the 30 over game. The RBAI were too strong, with Limavady not providing their best performance of the season. We would like to wish the Year 14 leavers all the best in their future careers as they finish their time with LGS. Robert, Dylan, Jordan and Pearse thank you for all your contributions to Limavady GS cricket. Well done to Captain Robert, who was selected to take part in the Ulster Schools’ trial match at BRA. He wore the school jersey with pride. Well done to everyone!
