LGS Rugby have had a busy week, with a number of matches taking place from Year 8 to 1st XV.
Friday 8th December
Year 8 v Foyle
Year 8s played 3 teams against Foyle College on a wet Friday afternoon. We had 34 boys getting plenty of game time and scoring plenty of tries.
Limavady GS A won comfortably.
Limavady GS B Lost 14 tries to 6.
Limavady GS C Won 14 tries to 10.
Well done to all involved and thanks to Foyle College for travelling.
Ulster Schools’ Cup Group Stage
Limavady GS 9-36 Banbridge Academy
Penalties – Cooper x3
POM: Odhran
Proudly sponsored by Kingsbridge North West, DMC Properties and Mortgages and Air Cool Engineering.
The Limavady GS won 2 out of 3 group matches and finish 2nd in their group. They await other results to find out the competition they play in next.
The Limavady side started strongly with a number of linebreaks. They took an early lead through 2 penalties. Banbridge then replied to make it 7-6. Through continued pressure Limavady scored another penalty to make it 9-7. The half time score was 17-9 to the Banbridge side. The overall result does not reflect how close the game was, with Banbridge scoring a few tries late on. The team was led by their captain Odhran, but it was not to be their day. We await the other results and will find out the draw on Tuesday. Superb effort from everyone!

2XV Trophy
LGS 2XV 26-31 Coleraine GS 2XV

Cons: James L x2
Pens: James L x2
Saturday 16th December
U14s v Belfast HS
As the only game taking place at Limavady this weekend, the U14s took the opportunity to play for the first time on the 1st XV pitch. The boys rose to the occasion with a good physical display. A strong first half saw them take a two point lead into half time. But missed opportunities before the break and a fatiguing pack saw the visitors take the lead and not let go. Plenty of positives to take in this defeat, including a first try for Xander and a first game playing a year up for Year 9, Tom.
LGS U14 12-24 Belfast HS
Tries: Joseph and Xander
Con: Ewan
POTM: Ewan
