Limavady Grammar School pupils have excelled in their A level performance this year exceeding the performance of previous years. “This year’s results are amongst our best ever,” commented Mrs Madden, as the school recorded a 100% pass rate for the 267 exams sat, with 77% of those results being the coveted A*-B grades and with over 80% of pupils receiving 3 or more A*-C grades. These results place LGS well above the Northern Ireland average for grammar schools and further emphasise its place as a top grammar school in the Province. Top achievers were Rhiannon Day, David Irwin and Victoria Brown, each of whom received 3 A* grades whilst Adam Douglas, Ben Kennedy, Joel Boucher, Kornel Gorywoda, Bevin Reilly, John Anderson, Amy Bogle, Eve Craig, John Crown, Shane Murphy, Ethan Squires, Finn Whiteside, Sarah Grant, Stephanie Wilson and Ryan Duffy all achieved 3 or more A*/A grades.
Year 13 pupils were not to be outdone by their elder classmates as they also received exam results this week. Of the 346 exams sat at AS level, 224 resulted in the top A/B grades with an astonishing 19 pupils achieving 3 or more A grades. These were Josh Boreham, Tim Chan, Kate Dallas, Jessica Gault, Phoebe King, Sophie MacLurg, Jeannie Mark, Rachel Marshall, Ciara McCloskey, Matthew McCool, Tommy Orr, Amber Saggu, Sam Thompson, Kain Breydin, Hannah Cochrane, Austin Hargin, Jack Hockley, Melissa Pattison and Samantha Quinlin.
Mrs Madden took the opportunity to congratulate all of her pupils who received their results this week. “Limavady Grammar is a school where pupils are challenged to achieve their best and where excellence is strived for and achieved. The achievements of the class of 2019 have been truly amazing. Our Upper Sixth pupils have achieved fantastic results whilst also excelling in sport, music, drama and a range of other extra-curricular activities, and our Lower Sixth pupils have built a solid base on which to strive for further success next year. LGS provides a holistic education where the all-round development of students is central to all that we do. Our results are a tribute to the pupils but also to their teachers who have worked so hard to prepare them for their exams. I would like to congratulate you all and wish you well as you leave the school and move on to the next exciting stage in your lives.”
