In his 28 years as Caretaker, Wilfie has been an integral part of our school community and his presence and contribution to school life will be greatly missed.

Our beloved caretaker, Wilfred (Wilfie) Moore, the man who still looks too young to retire and looks the same as he did when he started working in LGS 28 years ago.

Before Wilfie came to us he initially started work with Bellas Timber Merchants, Wilfie would work there for 17 years. He then changed jobs to work in Stewarts, where he worked nights on the “Power Aisle” and had many fond memories of “Yellow-Pack” products.

In 1995 Wilfie joined LGS full of enthusiasm and made a great impact on the school from the day he started. Especially our Wilfie, who on his very first day ensured that he made his mark by breaking off a rusted pipe in the main water tank and flooding the whole E corridor.  From then on we knew the school was in safe hands.

In his 28 years, Wilfie has been an integral part of our school community and his presence and contribution to school life will be greatly missed.

Wilfie has been a constant source of support and care for all of us at Limavady Grammar School. From his early morning rounds to his late-night check-ins, Wilfie has always been there to ensure that our school is a safe and welcoming place for everyone. His dedication and commitment to his work have been truly exceptional, and we are grateful for all that he has done for us.

Wilfie’s contributions to our school go far beyond his role as caretaker. He has always been a friendly face and a listening ear for students and staff alike. Whether it was lending a hand or simply offering a kind word of encouragement, Wilfie has always been there to support us in whatever way he could. He was always Mr. Reliable and as the ladies in the office called him “the OK Man” as when they called him he would reply “Ok” and get the job done.

As we say goodbye to Wilfie, we know that he will be greatly missed by all of us. But we are also confident that he will enjoy a well-deserved retirement, filled with relaxation, adventure, and more time spent with Louise. We know you will be busy in your newly elected role as President of the Recreation Club and we wish you good health and luck as you continue with your passions for fishing and lawn bowling.

Wilfie, we want to thank you for all that you have done for us over the years. Your hard work, dedication, and kindness have made a lasting impact on our school community, and we will always be grateful for the time that we have spent with you. We wish you all the best in your retirement, and we will miss you dearly.

Thank you, Wilfie, and congratulations on your retirement.

N. Madden & R. Donnell
