In February our GCSE and AS level classes visited the True Colours Exhibition at the Ulster Museum in Belfast. We were able to see the incredible work of GCSE and A level pieces and gather inspiration.
We were able to witness techniques and media that we may have never thought of trying out before and it was extraordinary to see the achievement of other students such as ourselves, which could help us improve our artwork. After looking at the True Colours exhibit we took a glance around the other art exhibits, such as the pottery exhibit, printing exhibit and Irish Painters exhibits. These showed beautiful pieces of stunning artwork.
However, there was also stranger and more interesting artwork, some being illusions that made the artwork look like it was moving on the canvas. It was awe-inspiring to see all the different ways that many different people could create and produce a variety of art pieces, paintings and posters.
Overall, it was an amazing experience for everyone involved and my classmates and I had the time of our lives. There was art on every surface and it was wonderfully inspiring to be able to view it. This has truly helped me develop my work for my GCSE portfolios.
We would like to thank Mrs Olphert and Mrs Lowth for organising such an amazing trip to the museum.
