Year 13 Physics students who participated in this year’s Institute for Research in Schools (IRIS) project were delighted to join a vibrant community of young minds at the IRIS conference in Manchester. The students presented their final research posters, showcasing their discoveries about Particle Physics.
Autumn International Rugby Trip 2022/23
In the Autumn we went to see two of the Ireland November series games. Our Y9 group was treated to an exciting game of Rugby. Ireland beat the Springboks 19-16 in a closely contested match between the world’s number-one ranked side and the reigning world champions.
Geography Fieldwork 2023
During the year the GCSE and A level Geography students travelled to Magilligan Field Centre to collect geographical data first-hand through fieldwork, this data was then used to help prepare them for their public examinations in May/June.
The Geography GCSE class collected data to investigate the changing characteristics of the Curly Burn River.
French Exchange 2023
The French exchange was an amazing experience! On the 17th of June, twenty one pupils and three members of staff traveled to La Roche sur Yon in the Vendée region of France. There were loads of different activities each day such as shopping, games and excursions to Futuroscope and the Puy du Fou history park.
History Trip to Dublin 2023
Early morning on the 31st March, we set off from school on our history trip to Dublin. Spirits were high as we arrived at the first stop on our itinerary, Glasnevin Cemetery. We met our guide, who escorted us around the graves, enlightening us with his knowledge.
Year 8 Church Visits
In Year 8 Religious Studies we study Faiths in Northern Ireland, including Christian traditions. To complete this unit we visited three local churches on our annual walk. Thanks so much to the Church leaders in St Mary’s, 2nd Limavady Presbyterian and Limavady Baptist for allowing us to visit, making us feel welcome and explaining more about their churches.
Senior School Ski Trip 2023
It was no joke on April Fool’s day when 46 sixth years and 5 staff gathered in the very early hours to begin the journey to Ehrwald in the Tyrolean Alps, Austria for the senior school ski trip. Ask A Justice
In April, Limavady Grammar School students participated in the UK Supreme Court’s ‘Ask a Justice’ programme for the first time. This educational outreach project enables students from anywhere in the UK (outside of London) to engage in dialogue with one of the twelve Supreme Court Justices.
Rock Festival
On 9th May 2023 we were delighted to host our first ever LGS outdoor Rock Festival. This event showcased the fantastic musical talent of around 80 of our pupils, with many more helping out behind the scenes.
Christmas Concert 2022
The Christmas Carol Concert 2022 was in many respects one of the most successful we have had in recent memory. The successful 2022 LGS Christmas Concert raised £530.15 for LIPS (Limavady Initiative for the Prevention of Suicide).
