The French exchange was an amazing experience!  On the 17th of June, twenty one pupils and three members of staff  traveled to La Roche sur Yon in the Vendée region of France. There were loads of different activities each day such as shopping, games and excursions to Futuroscope and the Puy du Fou history park. 

The French students and their families were all so welcoming and made us feel at home. On Monday, we got to experience a whole day in a French school environment at the Collège Richelieu. This was very different to our school but still very exciting.  In classes, the French teachers always made sure we felt included. 

It was very strange to be in a country where people weren’t speaking English but this really helped us improve our French skills. The most unusual part of the trip happened on Wednesday when we headed into the town center and completed a treasure hunt, which involved us having to ask questions to passers-by.  Some of them couldn’t understand our accents at first, but we overcame this and they were all very happy to help us. 

On the last day, it was so sad to have to leave as we had such a great time in La Roche sur Yon.  Our French exchange partners were also upset to see us go as we all had loved being in each other’s company. 

Mr Sampson, Miss Doherty and Mrs Gallagher were always very reassuring and made sure we were all ok throughout the trip and that we had a fantastic time. It was a great trip and we will never forget this experience!
