Friday 1st September was the first official day for the new Year 8 pupils at Limavady Grammar School. The day began at 9am when pupils were dropped off at the entrance by parents who looked more nervous than their children!
Pupils spent the first part of the day with their form teachers, getting to know each other. This was followed by four activities bustling with excitement: rugby, hockey drills, football and cricket, so our pupils were ready for the BBQ lunch at 1pm which was served in the courtyard thanks to the efforts of Miss Wendy Archibald and Mrs Dawn McKeever. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their burgers, crisps, chocolate and fruit and had time to relax and chat before the last session of the day. Finally, at 1.45pm, the pupils were split into two groups and spent half the time doing team games in the Sports Hall and the other half doing drama in the Assembly Hall. There was a lot of noise and screaming to be heard around the school as the new pupils engaged in all the fun!
The school would like to thank all staff who contributed in any way to this busy, exciting day, particularly the form teachers and the teachers responsible for all the fun activities. Thank you also to the Year 14 volunteers for their support, Superflora of Limavady and Qualivend for their very generous donations. It was greatly appreciated by all. Best of luck to all the new Year 8 pupils at Limavady Grammar School 2017!
