Young Enterprise, Company Programme

Year Groups Involved: Year 13

Activities

Participating in the Young Enterprise program provides Year 13 students with an invaluable opportunity to develop key skills and enhance their future career prospects. Over the course of an academic year, students experience the challenges and rewards of running their own business, from concept to execution. By designing, producing, and selling a product to the public, they gain first hand experience in entrepreneurship, teamwork, and decision-making.

Weekly meetings provide tailored guidance and insights, allowing students to refine their business strategies and tackle real-world challenges with confidence. Participation in competitive events like the North West trade fair and St George’s Market as well as having a Dragons’ Den-style interview sharpens students’ presentation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. These experiences also build resilience and confidence under pressure, critical traits for any career path.

By the end of the programme, students not only gain practical business expertise but also develop transferable skills like leadership, adaptability, and critical thinking. Young Enterprise equips young people with the tools and experiences to stand out in their future academic and professional endeavours.

Recent successes in the academic year 2023/2024 include one of our companies, Blossom winning North West Company of the Year. The pupils also were runners up for Northern Ireland Company of the Year. Numerous other awards included most sustainable product, best customer service and most innovative product. The pupils also received awards from Ulster University for their participation in Young Enterprise.
